Audio for VATSIM Guide

Since 2019 VATSIM has been using a standalone audio transmission protocol called Audio for VATSIM. At the moment, there are 3 clients available to use said protocol. The up-to-date list of approved AFV clients is always available in the Approved Software Policy. Lativa vACC recommends the AFV Standalone Client or TrackAudio for use within the EVRR FIR.

  • It is recommended that when staffing radar positions the controller should cross-couple (XC) their own primary frequency for better reach among pilots on opposite ends of one’s airspace.
  • It is strongly recommended that controllers do not disable Realistic ATC Audio Effects while using this AFV client.

TrackAudio

TrackAudio is made by Pierre Ferran - a former Director of the French vACC and a respected software developer within the VATSIM community. TrackAudio is available for download by following the link below.

  • It is recommended that when staffing radar positions the controller should cross-couple (XCA) their own primary frequency for better reach among pilots on opposite ends of one’s airspace.
  • It is strongly recommended that controllers do not disable Radio Effects while using this AFV client.
  • It is recommended that controllers use Garex 220 as Radio Hardware to achieve maximum realism in their radio transmissions.
